Pisa & Florence

Where we stayed: Residence San Rossore
Where we visited - Pisa: The Leaning Tower, Piazza de Miracoli, Keith Haring Mural Pisa.
Florence: Academia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery, The Duomo, Piazza Sante Croce, Ponte Vecchio.
Where we ate: On our day trip to Florence we ate at the Libreria Brac, this was my favourite restaurant from the whole trip. It was a combination of a library and a restaurant (sounds weird I know) but they worked surprisingly well together. Pisa was pretty bad for vegan food, I survived mainly on salads, sun dried tomatoes and olives.

The second stop on my travels around Europe last summer was Pisa. Italy has always been one of my favourite European countries, partly due to the food but also the architecture, the people and a million other things. I have to say though Pisa wasn't my favourite place to visit, not because it wasn't a beautiful place, but because apart from the leaning tower there wasn't a lot to do and see, and I'm one of those people that can't just lay by the pool all day. I like to experience the culture and the sights, perhaps I just didn't research it well enough but regardless I still had an amazing time, and I spent ages sitting in the Piazza dei Miracoli, basking in the sun and drawing to my hearts content.
We also visited the Academia Gallery to see Michaelangelo's David, which was really impressive. We did spend about two hours queuing in the sun with no shade, but it was totally worth it.
